Changes Ahead

This summer is full of changes.  We sold our home, moved to another state, and are building our dream home.  Yeah, it's been pretty busy.

One other change I am making is to break away from Stampin' Up.  I have been with Stampin' Up longer than I have had this blog.  It's been super great!  I love their products and being a part of it.  It's like one big party.  But, I feel with all the life changes I am making that now is a good time to spread my wings a bit and break away.  I will continue to share tutorials, cards, and anything crafty or artsy, but I want to venture out a little so I am not so confined to just one company.  I guess I am looking for a little more creative freedom.  I don't plan on endorsing any one particular brand or company, but I may give affiliate links of the products I use through Amazon to help pay for this blog.

I'm excited to venture out a bit and explore my creativity.  I will post when I can, as much as I can.  Remember, I am building a house this summer and it is taking all my focus right now.  I am also living in a camper with 3 of my children and husband.  That has been both a challenge and a blessing.  I don't have all my crafting materials because they are packed.  They have been reduced to a tower of drawers in the corner of the camper.  So I am creating the best I can, when I can.  I feel this can be good or bad, I have yet to figure it out.

I'm sharing our home building venture on my sister blog Searching Simplicity if you are interested in following.  Here, I will just continue sharing paper crafting and such.  I will dedicate this blog to only paper crafting, but my Facebook page has had a little more about our move and other fun stuff.  Make sure to follow me on Instagram too.  Sometimes it's easier to just post a pic of a paper craft on there.

Talk to you soon!!

Look For Rainbows - Acrylic Watercolor Technique

This is my newest favorite technique - watercolor with acrylic block.  It's so easy and makes such a beautiful affect on paper.  All you need is

  • Waterbased markers (I used Stampin' Up)
  • An acrylic block of any size
  • Water or alcohol in a spray bottle
  • Watercolor paper or card stock

QUICK TIP:  Make sure to get the block really wet when you spray it.  The colors will run together better and there will be more coverage when you stamp the block onto the paper.  You may need to play around with it a bit on scratch paper before applying it to your project.

Just have fun with it and enjoy the process!!

Moving Day!

 You know you've tried it...

Hey guys!  Just popping by to let you know that it might be a little quiet around here for the next couple weeks.  We are moving!!  I totally stoked about our new adventure.  New state, new town, new people, new home.

I will be posting on Instagram and Facebook over the next week a couple cards I managed to make while I was supposed to be packing my craft room (teehee!).  But I won't be able to share any specifics on how they were made or supplies I used.  It takes lots of time to include that on the blog.  So just pics for now.

Wish us luck on the move that nothing breaks (and that I don't break).

I {heart} The Painter's Palette Stamp Set

I'm in *LOVE* with the new Painter's Palette stamp set from the 2016 catty.  I can use the stamps in so many different ways!  Here is one way...

When I first read the sentiment on the case of the stamp set hearts came to mind.  So I played with the brush strokes from the set.  I all the inks from the 2016 In Color set available to me at the time.  I really love how all the colors blended together.

Below you can see a super quick tutorial on how I created the hearts.

Then I adhered the hearts to Basic Black cardstock with dimensionals.  I just love how the hearts really POP against the black.

Here are the supplies I used for the card (click on them to shop):

Whisper White cardstock
Basic Black cardstock
Flirty Flamingo cardstock
In Colors classic ink pads
Painter's Palette stamp set
Memento black ink
Whisper White thick baker's twine
Playful Palette Washi Tape
